Miss World started as the Festival Bikini Contest, in honour of the recently introduced swim wear of the time, but was called "Miss World" by the media. It was originally planned as a one-off event. Upon learning about the upcoming Miss Universe pageant, Morley decided to make the pageant an annual event.
Priyanka Chopra is born on 18th July, 1982 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
Her father was Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra, mother Dr. Madhu Chopra. Her father hailed from a family of Punjabi origin, settled in Bareilly and her mother comes from a family settled in Jamshedpur. She also has a brother, Siddharth, who is seven years younger than she. Her family affectionately called her Mimi.
Chopra spent her childhood in Rae Barreilly, Uttar Pradesh as well as in Lucknow, where she was enrolled in the La Martiniere Girls' School. These frequent re-locations took place as Ashok was a doctor in the Indian Army. She subsequently re-located to the U.S. where she studied in Newton's Newton North High School and then in Cedar Rapid's John F. Kennedy High School in Massachusetts and Iowa respectively.
In 2000 she returned to India and enrolled in Jai Hind College and Basant Singh Institute of Science in Churchgate, Mambai but had to leave abruptly as she was crowned Miss India.
Priyanka Chopra came in second place at Femina Miss India 2000 competition winning the Femina Miss India World title and subsequently being sent to Miss World where she was crowned Miss World 2000.
On December 12, 2009, Chopra was present as a judge for the Miss World 2009 competition held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Priyanka Chopra made her debut in the 2002 tamil film Thamizhan playing the role of Priya, the love interest of the protaginist in the film played by Vijay. The film was praised for its wit, although the depth of Chopra's character was seen as lacking.
Then she appeared in her first Bollywood film, opposite Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in the Anil Sharma film 'The Hero' in 2002. She works as a playback singer in 'Barsaat (2005)'.
5 feet 8 inches tall, Priyanka Chopra has won 11 awards to date for her performance in 'Andaaz', 'Aitraaz', 'The Hero', 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi', 'Krrish' and 'Fashion'.

María Verónica Vargas Granja (1989) is an Ecuadorian beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss World Ecuador 2011 and will represent her country in the 2011 Miss World pageant.
Vargas is taking a bachelor's degree in journalist at Universidad de Eloy Alfaro de Manta and speaks Spanish and English. She enjoys reading and she was Nereida de la Armada del Ecuador.

Favourite Music / Books ?
I love listening to acoustic music, and never get enough of Eric Hutchinson and Paolo Nutini. I like reading a good suspense novel, but the best book I have read is the Norwegian 'Idas Dans'. Although it is the saddest book I have ever read, the story of a mother's love and fight for her dying daughter hits me straight in the heart.
What is the proudest moment of your life or most memorable day?
When I was six years old, my parents told my brothers and I that child number 4 was on its way. I was so excited; I could hardly wait for the months to pass. I had one wish though.....it has to be a girl, it just HAD to. So every night from the day that I got to know my mother was pregnant, I prayed my deepest prayers that it would have to be a girl. When my siblings and I got the phone call from my parents at the hospital telling us it was a girl, I was sure it was all my work! That day was both one of my proudest and most memorable days.

I always try to make the best out of every situation in life, and to always be positive. I belive that what goes around, comes around, and therefore always treat others with respect.

Sushi and 'Pinnekjott' (traditional Norwegian Christmas Dinner).
Do you have any pets ?
I have a beautiful, energetic 2 year old cat. He is a British Shorthair and is just precious to me.
Future ambitions ?
After completing my Bachelors Degree, I want to go on to get my Master of Science in Development and Natural Resource Economics, and of course work in that field.

Chantal Alicia Raymond was crowned Miss Jamaica World 2010 at the Finale held August 21st at the Pegasus Hotel, Kingston. She is 24 year old and stands 5’9”. Chantal will represent Jamaica in Miss World 2010 pageant in China later this year. Earlier, Chantal won the Miss Talent Fast track, ranked second in both Miss Model and Miss Sports fast track.
